FACIAL HARMONY WITH NOSE SURGERY IN TORONTO

Rhinoplasty or nose surgery can be a life-changing option to enhance both appearance and function. This minor intervention aims to restore the balance of your facial structure by reshaping your nose.

A nasal reshaping surgery goes beyond just aesthetics. This small physical change can lead to a boost in self-confidence, ensuring you’re happy with your facial appearance and open to new opportunities.

Facial harmony is the ultimate goal in any aesthetic enhancement of the face. The nose, as one of the most distinguishing facial features, must always be addressed with balance and proportion in mind. An elegant, smoothly contoured nose is the defining feature of a face in harmony. To achieve that ideal, you need a surgeon with an artist’s ability to sculpt a balanced, aesthetically pleasing nose through rhinoplasty.

BENEFITS OF RHINOPLASTY:

  • Achieve a better harmony for the nose and facial features.
  • Decrease the nose’s size if it’s too wide or too large.
  • Improve an overly arched nose, known as the “Roman” nose.
  • Reconstruct nose tips that are elongated or crooked.

RHINOPLASTY CAN IMPROVE OR TREAT:

  • Nasal asymmetry
  • Nose size (for facial balance)
  • Nose profile (visible depressions or bumps)
  • Nose width (size and position of nostrils as well as the bridge)
  • Nostrils (width, size, upturned)
  • Nasal tip (droop, hooked, bulbous, upturned)

Here’s What We Can Do For You

A rhinoplasty, or nose job, is aesthetic plastic surgery of the nose that can address all facets of nasal form. An expert in the art and science of rhinoplasty, Dr Wu combines his tremendous experience with meticulous attention to detail, technical finesse, and natural artistry to achieve the most exquisite results.

The best rhinoplasty is one that is tailored to your personal anatomic features, and more importantly, to your unique desires. The changes with rhinoplasty can range from subtle refinements to more dramatic, stunning enhancements, depending upon your unique goals. Above all, rhinoplasty results should be natural and beautiful, and should never look like a “nose job.”

With Dr. Chad Wu’s expertise, you can be sure to achieve your goals. During your consultation, Dr. Wu will design a customized rhinoplasty plan for you and define realistic expectations.

Symmetry

Balanced features are universally appealing in nature. Even a slight deviation can disrupt the harmony of your appearance. Repositioning a nose that’s slightly off-center can highlight attractive facial features that, prior to rhinoplasty, had been overlooked.

Size

A nose that’s too large compared to the rest of the face can make you feel self-conscious. Reducing the size of the nose creates a subtle, but significant difference in your overall appearance.

Shape

A bump on the bridge of the nose, a bulbous or hanging tip, a bridge that is too wide, or large nostrils that aren’t pleasing are some of the features that can be corrected through rhinoplasty.

The Procedure

Before going in for a nose job in Toronto, whether you’re getting a crooked nose correction, nose bump reduction, or refining nasal shape, you need to know how to prep for the procedure. This includes what happens during the surgery, what the rhinoplasty recovery time is, the restrictions, and possible complications.

BEFORE THE OPERATION: GET READY

TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE PROCEDURE

  • Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications.
  • Mention any allergies to your surgeon.
  • Inform your surgeon if you are taking any medications.
  • Also tell your doctor if you smoke.

THE DAY OF THE OPERATION

  • Wear comfortable clothing.
  • Do not wear make-up.
  • Do not wear jewelry.

THE SURGICAL PROCEDURE

What to Expect

Rhinoplasty, commonly called nose surgery, does not cause much pain. In general, rhinoplasty is performed under general, mixed or local anesthesia. After changing the appearance of the nose, the surgeon will insert a wick into each nostril to stabilize the tissues and absorb secretions. A splint will also immobilize the nose for a period varying from five to ten days.

RECOVERY

What Happens After the Rhinoplasty Surgery

Your hospital recovery will last from a few hours to a few days. You will be able to apply cold water compresses right after surgery to reduce swelling around your eyelids and face. If necessary, you can take the painkillers prescribed by your surgeon.

After one week, you can resume your daily activities gradually so as not to increase the swelling. However, you will have to wait from three and six weeks before exercising. When the wicks and the splint are removed, your nose can be cleaned delicately. Please note that a freshly operated nose will be sensitive to the sun and to the cold for several months.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE AFTER NOSE SURGERY?

Your hospital recovery could range from a few hours to a few days. Cold compresses can be used immediately after the surgery to reduce swelling around the eyelids and face, and the prescribed painkillers can be taken if needed.

You can resume daily activities after about a week, but will need to wait 3-6 weeks before exercising. Once the wicks and splint are removed, the nose can be gently cleaned.

Please note that your nose will be sensitive to the sun and cold for several months.

WHEN WILL I SEE FINAL RHINOPLASTY RESULTS?

It will take almost a year for you to see the final results of your nose job. Most of the visible healing is visible within 6 months, but subtle refinements are seen through the first year.

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCEDURE TAKE?

The time varies depending on the amount of shaping necessary. Sixty to ninety minutes is the usual range. Work done to improve your breathing (septal) may add twenty minutes, while performance of a chin or cheek implant can add an hour.

HOW OLD DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO HAVE RHINOPLASTY?

This procedure is routinely performed on patients as young as 15 years old with parental consent. Health is the primary consideration in determining the maximum age allowed for this procedure.

WHERE ARE RHINOPLASTY INCISIONS PLACED?

Rhinoplasty, performed to address nasal form and function, is typically done via either of two techniques:

  1. Closed: Incisions are concealed inside the nose
  2. Open: Incision is made across the narrow strip of tissue between the nostrils
HOW DO YOU PLAN A RHINOPLASTY TO SUIT FACIAL PROPORTIONS?

Planning a rhinoplasty begins with a careful assessment of your facial anatomy, coupled with personal goals. The final result can be subtle or dramatic, depending on your desire. In either case, the aim of the surgery is to make sure that your nose complements your face and looks natural.

WILL I HAVE SCARRING?

Since most rhinoplasty procedures are done inside the nose there are virtually no visible incisions or scarring.

CAN I RETURN HOME THE SAME DAY?

Yes. Nose shaping is done on an outpatient basis. Be sure to arrange for someone to drop you off, pick you up, take you home and stay with you for at least 24 hours.
